Amanda Staniszewski is our Illustrator of the Week!
Amanda Staniszewski loves to collect children’s books, and their influence definitely shows in her work. The Pennsylvania-based illustrator’s art is all kinds of adorable, and often features friendly creatures in a gorgeous palette of colors both bright and muted. Amanda went to school for for Graphic Design and Advertising, and currently works as a full-time graphic designer. We’re completely in love with her aww-worthy designs — and that’s why she’s our Illustrator of the Week!

No pressure, but describe your art: My work tends to be light, quirky and cute.
What inspires you to make things: Seeing other artists making fun things makes me want to create some of my own.
Your favorite thing(s) to draw: My two favorite things in life — animals and food.
Medium of choice: I typically start out with a pencil sketch and then finish my work digitally. I love working with layered textures and patterns.
The first time you knew you wanted to be an artist: I had a lot of fun in art class in high school and decided to go to college for graphic design. That’s where I fell in love with digital illustration.
Proudest achievement so far: Seeing some of my work at Target was really exciting for me.
Music you listen to while you work: It definitely depends on the day, but I do listen to a lot of Bastille and Florence and the Machine.
Your most prized possession: My dog, Norman, if he counts. If not, I’d say my Hello Kitty sewing machine.
Your personal hero: Alberto Cerriteño and Dallas Clayton are two artists that I look up to.
The last thing to make you giggle: Titus Andromedon.
Current project(s): I’m in the process of getting my Etsy shop stocked up and plan to start my first children’s book very soon!
