Amanda Seyfried only used $4 hair products to achieve her old Hollywood waves at the 2018 Oscars after-party
Anyone else still coming off the high of seeing all the 2018 Oscars glam? All our favorite stars looked absolutely gorgeous, including Amanda Seyfried. What makes her look more impressive is the fact that she achieved gorgeous old Hollywood waves with drugstore products that you can pick up for under $4 a piece.
Getting those effortless-looking waves isn’t exactly easy when we try it at home, but celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho broke down the process behind Amanda’s hair so we can attempt to copy her look. Cho’s inspiration for the actress’s Vanity Fair Oscars party look was elegant and romantic, and we love that we don’t have to spend a fortune to get these waves.
Need to know exactly how to recreate this Amanda’s hairstyle in the comfort of your own home? Look no further, because we’ve got all the info you need.
Here’s how Jenny Cho created Amanda Seyfried’s glamorous Vanity Fair Oscars party look:
Jenny started the look with the Suave Professionals Natural Volume Mousse ($3.94), made a deep side part, and blow-dried the star’s hair with a large round brush. Then, she sprayed on Suave Professionals Natural Hold Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray ($3.94) to keep her hair in place all night long.

Here’s where it might get tricky for some. Jenny then used a flat iron to create an “S” shape in Amanda’s hair. That might take some practice, but we have faith that after some trial-and-error we can look just as glam as the actress.
The finishing touch of volume comes courtesy of the Suave Professionals Natural Refresh Dry Shampoo ($3.94). This added texture and edginess to the star’s hair. One final blast of hairspray, and voila! The look is complete.
Will you be giving this sexy hair look a shot? It’s the perfect after-party look and goes gorgeously with Amanda’s entire ensemble. It’s a yes from us, for sure.
