Amal Clooney is back to crushing it at work three months after giving birth

It’s official: Our favorite international human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney, is back at work three months after giving birth to twins. And while three months is pretty typical for maternity leave by U.S. standards (with many new mothers forced to take even less time while recovering from bringing forth human life), we’re  pretty sure that Amal didn’t have to return to work any time soon.

Based on the fact that she’s married to one of the world’s biggest movie stars, we kind of have a feeling that Amal could technically spend the rest of her days on a chaise lounge being hand-fed grapes. So we’re honestly pretty impressed with her obvious passion and commitment to her (extremely important) work.

And we love seeing her back in action.

This week, she returned to the United Nations’ headquarters in New York City to celebrate the formal investigation into crimes against humanity committed by ISIS in Iraq.

She took the UN to task earlier this year for not taking action when it came to the Yazidi victims of genocide, so its vote to investigate the war crimes this week was a huge victory for the victims. She said in a statement to the BBC, “Through its unanimous vote today the UN has sent a strong message that ISIS can no longer commit genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes with impunity. And that victims may finally have their day in court.”

We are so incredibly heartened by Amal Clooney’s commitment to human rights and giving a voice to the voiceless.  She’s an inspiration to humans everywhere.
