Alyson Stoner threw it back again with a video of her teaching Ellen DeGeneres the Harlem Shake
It’s been 17 years since Alyson Stoner made her dance debut in Missy Elliot’s “Work It” music video. And it’s been 17 years since she taught Ellen DeGeneres how to do the Harlem Shake during the first season of The Ellen Show. We’ve completely come full circle. After making a cameo during Missy Elliot’s performance at the August 26th VMAs show, Stoner returned to Ellen on September 9th, and we’re having some serious déjà vu.
In 2003, Stoner appeared on Ellen after “Work It” won Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2003 VMAs.
The then 10-year-old Stoner dished about meeting Justin Timberlake and then literally danced circles around DeGeneres.
And TBH, she is literally the cutest little kid we’ve ever seen. The sarcasm, nerves, and that outfit are too much to handle. DeGeneres even did the six-step, which is absolutely incredible.
Then, 17 years later, an all-grown-up Stoner returned to reflect on her first appearance on Ellen, and DeGeneres surprised her with the #TBT clip. Although Stoner seemed embarrassed by her kid self, we, along with everyone else, were happy to relive that segment.
“Credit goes to Missy for allowing me to participate and honor her, and kind of recreate that timeless moment,” Stoner said about appearing in the routine at the 2019 VMAs.
She said that the cameo (and DeGeneres’s sharing of the VMAs clips) rocketed her following on Instagram to over 1 million.
We’re certainly giving Stoner a follow. We can’t wait to see what our nostalgic icon is up to next.
