Alright, babies, everyone’s favorite post-apocalyptic series featuring very, very good-looking humans is back. Drop whatever it is that you’re doing and watch the new Divergent Series: Allegiant trailer. Just trust me on this one.
The third film installment in the movie series, based on the Divergent book trio, will follow career bad-asses Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James), along with their posse of defectors, as they explore life beyond the wall, beyond the city of Chicago. They’ll encounter technology and a civilization beyond their wildest dreams, and also Jeff Daniels, #1 dad, in a suit.
The trailer was debuted exclusively by Buzzfeed Entertainment earlier today, and social media is already freaking out because apparently, this is all very different from the books?
I’m going to be honest: While I love these movies, I have not read the books. I am, admittedly, a bit of a fraud fan. I don’t have much of an excuse other than I like to watch Sci-fi/fantasy stuff a lot more than I like reading it.
Anyway, for those of you who don’t know what Divergent is (which…shame on you), it features a post-apocalyptic society that divides its citizens into social factions based on their aptitudes: Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), Erudite (the intelligent), Abnegation (the selfless), and Candor (the honest). If you fulfill more than one faction, you’re considered Divergent — and that’s really, really dangerous.
