All-American Rejects just released an 11-minute short film for their new EP, “Sweat”
We’ve all seen music videos that were so visually stunning that we’ve replayed them 10, 20 or 30 times. Ones that immediately jump to mind are Madonna’s “What It Feels Like For a Girl,” Fat Boy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” What these music videos all have in common are its ability to grab our attention from the first shot to the last shot. (Oh and let’s not forget — the songs are absolutely infectious.) The All-American Rejects newest release joins that list of “most memorable.” Their latest music video (which is more like a short film than a music video) is a thrilling 11-minute visual ride to the soundtrack of their new Sweat EP, featuring the title track “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes”.
The All-American Rejects frontman, Tyson Ritter, announced the band’s new music a couple months back.
The video, which dropped yesterday, is directed by Jamie Thraves and stars Ritter.

In the film, Tyson plays Betsy, a cross-dressing sex worker. Blonde wig, heavy mascara, tights and clear heels. There’s even a strange little dance/arrest sequence. What are we talking about? All of it is kinda strange, and that’s why we love it so much. And what about that sequence in the bathroom stall? One way to describe it is…
The second segment showcases the All-American Rejects frontman in a dramatically different way to “Close Your Eyes.”
He transforms before our very eyes from Betsy to the seemingly disaffected, domesticated husband, Robert. He washes off the make-up, scrapes off the nail polish and dons a respectable suit. He returns home. To his surprise, his gorgeous wife has thrown him a festive party, filled with friends and kids.
We don’t want to give the ending away, but there is an awesome twist where Tyson seems to be contemplating who he is, what his life is, and identity itself. It’s shocking, bittersweet and changes our entire perception about Tyson’s Betsy/Robert character. What an exciting journey to go on — in only 11 minutes! We know you can’t resist watching this video just one more time.
