A clueless dude tried to body shame Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft and Twitter is absolutely not having it
Leave it to the anonymous toxic masculinity of the internet to totally ruin a good thing. The new Lara Croft movie Tomb Raider is about to come out in theaters, inspiring little girls everywhere as they see a strong, confident and fierce woman headlining her own action film, but that didn’t stop one jerk on the internet from trying to mess it all up. A YouTuber named TJ Kirk went on a rant about Tomb Raider star Alicia Vikander and actually had the nerve to body shame her…for not having bigger boobs. Because *of course* that’s what a dude who makes his living on the internet focuses on. Insert one giant eye roll here.
“Do I have to be the a**hole who says her tits are too small for me to see her as Lara Croft?” Kirk tweeted. “Do I have to be that guy? Do I have to be the one who f*cking says it? I guess I do. Sorry.”
Clearly he wasn’t sorry at all, because he kept saying more disgusting, offensive things. “Casting a flat-chested b*tch as Lara Croft is life casting me as Ron Jeremy. It doesn’t work for obvious reasons,” Kirk tweeted. “The only Tomb Raider game I’ve ever played was one of the new ones. I thought her breast reduction was noticeable and distracting there, and done for dishonest reasons. But this new actress is even flatter. It’s very disheartening. Or at least distitening.”
Thankfully, one idiot doesn’t outweigh the hordes of Vikander’s supporters. After Kirk tweeted out his ~educated and well-researched~ opinions about the size of Lara Croft’s chest, the rest of Twitter came for him without mercy, which is honestly what he deserves. Because if all you can focus on is the measurements of a woman’s body and not her talents or her work, then there is something wrong with you. Especially if you’re talking about a fictional video game character. Like, stop.
The last straw came when Kirk tweeted out his “solution” to the “problem” he couldn’t get over.

Even the original designers of Lara Croft said that the only reason her boobs were so big in the beginning is due to wanting to make her distinguishable as a female character with very limited polygons, and they're aware it looks unrealistic now.

This is just giving me PTSD flashbacks to when Gal Gadot was shamed on Twitter for not bleaching her armpits after the first Wonder Woman trailer came out. Apparently, this is just what it’s like to be a woman in 2018. Sigh.
