So, the “Alias” writers are open to a reboot, and let’s please make this happen

The hit J.J. Abrams TV series Alias had a reunion of sorts recently at the ATX festival. A panel of the writers of the show reconvened to discuss the epic saga of Sydney Bristow, the super spy. And since reboots are all the rage right now – think Gilmore Girls, Twin Peaks, and the discussion around another Firefly iteration – it was only natural that talk of rebooting the series came up. The Alias writers were asked about the possibility of bringing the show back in some form. And guess what? They’re not opposed!

According to EW.com, an Alias reboot is a possibility

Josh Appelbaum, co-executive producer for the series, fielded the question. He said, “It would be amazing to do it; we’ve even talked with J.J. [Abrams]. The right idea would have to come. We wouldn’t want to do it unless it was absolutely perfect.”

And that’s super fair. The show was so well received and loved by fans that we’d want it to be done right.

So it’s not a guarantee we’ll see the Bristow family of spies back on the screen anytime soon.

But, hey, we thrive on this kind of hope!

It’d be awesome to see Jennifer Garner kicking butt again. And even if she didn’t want to commit to a full TV show again, we’d happily accept a limited series run.

Some people weren’t huge fans of the Rambaldi mystery that the show often centered around, but it did give the series something to chew on other than the super spy dramatics. And since they’re really only in the talking phases, it’s unclear how similar a future Alias-inspired show would be to the original.

Sure, there’s a lot of action on our television screens these days, but nothing quite like Alias has popped up. It’d be awesome to see where the show could go with a leap forward into the present day. C’mon, writers, get those good ideas flowing! J.J. Abrams isn’t directing a Star Wars film at this exact moment, so he might even have some time to get involved. Let’s hope the universe gives us this gift.
