Alexis Bledel revealed how motherhood influenced her decision to be in “The Handmaid’s Tale”
She kept the whole pregnancy on the hush-hush, but Alexis Bledel is a mom — and her son, who was born in 2015, has definitely helped her in more ways than one. Currently starring in the spooky but truly incredible show The Handmaid’s Tale, Bledel opened up about how her baby boy has definitely aided in her decision regarding which acting roles to take on. For one, she’s become a lot pickier.
That’s due to the fact that she’s got a 24/7 role back at home that she always needs to fill.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bledel noted how it was important to only choose the best. It’d be time spent away from her family, so each project should be something she loves.
"More than anything, I just think about what roles I take on, and make sure that it's really something that I feel passionate about if I'm going to leave home and go work," Bledel said.
Bledel plays Ofglen in the Hulu series, and many are crediting the role as being one of her best ever. We mean, while we love her as Rory Gilmore, her Handmaid scenes have made people sob. She’s definitely grown as an actress since her first big role in 2000.
Bledel herself noted that she enjoys playing such a “layered” character.
"It's really wonderful to play characters as different from each other as I can. So it's just a great opportunity to do something different," she continued.
Fans of the show are probably happy over the fact that it was already picked up for a second season. The show, based on the popular novel by Margaret Atwood, definitely has people talking.
