Alexis Bledel looks terrified in the new “The Handmaid’s Tale” Super Bowl trailer

Welcome to creepy town! Actress Alexis Bledel looks completely terrified in new The Handmaid’s Tale trailer and we’re right there with her.

On Sunday, during the Super Bowl, Hulu gave us another glimpse into its new series, and man is it creepy. Yes, even Bledel, who plays Ofglen on the show looks beyond freaked out. We get it girl, this world is terrifying.

In the new trailer, we learn a little more about the world that Margaret Atwood created in her novel, which is being adapted for the series. The book takes place in the Republic of Gilead, which is a territory that was created when the U.S. Constitution was suspended.

It houses religious extremists who basically take away all of women’s rights in order to spike the birthrates, which are failing. How do they do that? Well, it’s not good from what we can tell.

“I had another name, but it’s forbidden now,” Elisabeth Moss (who plays the lead, Offred) says when the teaser begins.

We then see blood on the walls, nooses, and women wearing all red dresses. These women exist to serve the men of power and their barren wives. Yikes, seriously, yikes.

Throughout the trailer you can see the fear that is in the handmaid’s eyes, including Bledel, who is quickly showed being taken somewhere with a restraint over her mouth. Why, we need to know why?

There is also a better look at how Offred came to be a handmaid, and it has to do with her daughter being taken from her.

“My name is Offred,” she says at the end. “And I intend to survive.”

Talk about getting goosebumps. This sends chills down our spines and yet makes us feel powerful as women at the same time.

The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on Hulu on April 26th, so mark your calendars and prepare for a twisted series.
