Alexa Chung and classical art is the Instagram mashup we never knew we needed
We love discovering artistic Instagram accounts, and the latest one to blow our minds is the brainchild of sisters María and Beatriz Valdovín.
Their mission is to note the similarities between British model Alexa Chung, and the work of legendary artists like Modigliani, Picasso, Dali, Matisse, and many more.
If mixing art and fashion seems like the perfect combo, you’d be right, and these ‘side by sides’ are so fun to look at, partially because Alexa’s fashion choices have an artistic flair to them, and also partially because the paintings that Maria picks are so spot-on.

Speaking about their inspiration, Beatriz told Elle, “Sometimes the inspiration is in the painting: We see a masterpiece of Goya, Magritte, Modigliani, or Bouguereau and then we find a pose, a gesture, a piece of clothing, a hairstyle, or a landscape that reminds us of Alexa’s pictures. Other times, it’s the other way ’round: Her photos remind us of art.”
Okay, this is actually a legit talent.
Obviously, you need to follow this Instagram account because it’s amazing. How amazing, you ask? These side-by-sides are so good that Alexa herself re-grammed one of the creations, giving it her prestigious stamp of approval.
Our favorite thing about the Valdovín sisters, aside from their ability to choose the perfect photos to accompany these paintings, is that they have a brilliant sense of humor.
