Could this cryptic tweet mean that Alec Baldwin is running for president?
This could be a major plot twist. This weekend, Alec Baldwin hinted that he might run for president when he re-tweeted a message originally posted on his foundation’s account. It reads: “If I run for a President, think of how entertaining the debates would be.”
First of all, the actor who currently portrays Donald Trump on SNL does have a point — he’d be pretty great in the debates. Secondly, a Baldwin candidacy wouldn’t be as big of a shock as you might think. According to E! News, in 2008 Baldwin stated that he might run for office one day. “There’s no age limit on running for office, to a degree,” he said on 60 Minutes. “Something I might do, one day.”
Oh, really?
But this time, whether or not Baldwin is actually saying he plans to run for president is less clear.
The tweet both he and his foundation’s account posted was pretty cryptic.

It’s important to note that Baldwin often posts personal messages from the @ABFalecbaldwin account — the one from which the possible presidential candidacy announcement first came. Who knows? Maybe he is serious.
Also, we have to agree that he would make for an entertaining candidate
So, does Baldwin’s claim that he’d make for an “entertaining” candidate mean that he actually plans to run? Or is this some kind of statement about how zany the political process has become since President Trump took office — something Baldwin frequently satirizes on Saturday Night Live?
Knowing Baldwin, an outspoken liberal, it’s most likely more of a commentary on the state of politics as he sees things right now. Even further proof of that is the fact that he re-tweeted a response that suggests he doesn’t think a Baldwin candidacy is what the country needs right now. false
It’s hard to tell what Baldwin’s actual intention behind the mysterious Tweet was. But one thing that is pretty crystal clear is how much he dislikes Donald Trump.

Again, Baldwin proves his point that he’d be entertaining to watch in debates.
If there’s one thing that we have all learned from Trump’s presidency, it’s that Twitter and politics don’t always mix. So if Baldwin actually wants to run for president, he should probably adopt a new approach.
Surely the liberal actor doesn’t want to start drawing comparisons between himself and the president that he viciously mocks.
Baldwin should definitely not stopparodying the Twitter-happy president, though, because he’s so incredible at it. Stay tuned to see if life imitates art.
