Alanis Morissette traded in her signature long locks for a dramatic pixie cut, and we’re obsessed

You oughta know that Alanis Morissette got a haircut — and a pretty significant one at that. Morissette got a pixie cut, and have no fear — she looks ah-mazing.

Morissette has been quite busy these days. While you probably still have a copy of her 1995 hit Jagged Little Pill somewhere in a CD book, you’ll soon be able to see the album come to life in the form of a musical. She’s been working on the show since 2013 and has put a lot of work into it.

The musical will be premiering at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts this May, and the story was inspired by Morissette’s album. The show’s directed by Diane Paulus, who also worked on Pippin and Waitress, and was written by Diablo Cody. And yes — hits like “Hand In My Pocket” and “Ironic” will definitely be featured.

So in light of the good news, why not celebrate with a pixie cut? Morissette unveiled her new ‘do on Instagram on Thursday, April 19th.

She technically showed off the cut four days earlier (and some totally badass Jagged Little Pill earrings— but it wasn’t completely clear it was her at the time.

Morissette is no stranger to bold looks. Based on concert photos and Instagram, it looks like she went blonde between September and March.

Jagged Little Pill was such an empowering album that helped define a generation, and we’re so happy it’s finding new life as a musical. As for the new ‘do? We’re HERE FOR IT, lady!
