The voice of Aladdin just sang “A Whole New World” live and it’s absolutely splendid
Gather round, friends, because it’s time for the best thing you’re going to see on the internet today: The OG singing voice of Aladdin just belted out “A Whole New World” and we’ve got to share it with you.
Over the weekend, the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood (aka, the Disney movie theater) did a special showing of Aladdin. It’s part of their countdown to Moana series, where they’re showing “The Films of Ron and Jon” (aka, Ron Clements and John Musker, long-time Disney directors, who also directed Moana). Every week the theater is playing a different classic Disney movie, and it’s glorious. It also means that there are going to be lots of Disney surprises coming out of the El Capitan, like Aladdin himself showing up to sing for the crowd before the movie.
Brad Kane (not Steve from Full House) did the singing voice for our favorite street rat, and as we can see from social media, he showed up, sang, and everyone swooned.
Princess Jasmine (aka, Lea Salonga) couldn’t make it to the show, so the audience filled in for her part. Doesn’t sound like the audience minded getting to sing along with Aladdin — because it’s not every day you, and a few hundred of your friends, get to duet with Prince Ali.
