Helloooo, Newman! Aidy Bryant wants to play this legendary “Seinfeld” character
In a match made in bizarre, comedy heaven, we now know Aidy Bryant’s dream role is that of an angry, dramatic mailman with a heart of pure evil.
That’s right, Bryant’s dream role is Newman, Jerry’s devilish neighbor on Seinfeld.
The Saturday Night Live star recently spoke with Life & Style, and was asked what character she’s desperate to play. And it appears the hilarious Bryant didn’t have to think before answering.
“I’ve always wanted to play Newman from Seinfeld, she said. “That’s, like, my dream impression.
We certainly didn’t see Bryant’s answer coming. But now, we seriously NEED to see that impression on the next season of Saturday Night Live.
Much like how Melissa McCarthy’s perfect Sean Spicer impression came from left field and quickly became one of our favorite recurring sketches from the 42nd season of SNL, we think Bryant’s Newman has the potential to be a smash.
And Bryant’s confident that it could work out. She said of the SNL, make-up department, “They can do anything.”
Bryant has been busy promoting her new film The Big Sick, which stars Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan, and is based on the real-life courtship of Nanjiani and his wife (who is also the film’s co-writer), Emily V. Gordon.
But it’s clear Aidy has a *ton* of ideas to bring to the table when she returns for her fifth season of SNL in the fall.
