FX released the first footage from AHS: Apocalypse, and this is gonna get wild

Our first look at American Horror Story: Apocalypse is here, and this really does seem like the best (or, rather, the worst) of both worlds. As fans know, the new season twists together previous installments Murder House (Season 1) and Coven (Season 3) in an apocalyptic horror setting.

“It’s the end of the world,” the narration in the new trailer aptly begins, as the screen flashes images of a private plane crash, explosions, and people milling about in hazmat suits. Of course, unlike most apocalypse survivor stories, this one includes the Rubber Man, the Antichrist, a coven of familiar witches (for those who’ve seen Coven), and more unsettling creatures.

Fans will recognize a number of familiar faces, from Leslie Grossman and Evan Peters to the inimitable Sarah Paulson (who will be playing both Cordelia Foxx and Billie Dee Howard in the mash-up).

And who can forget Emma Roberts, gazing directly into the camera, deadpanning: "I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."

FX’s first teaser featured a fetus pumping blood into an inky black heart, a scorpion battle, and a flood of bats breaking through an occult-marked window. Basically, we’re 100% in for a horrific treat.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres September 12th on FX.
