This ‘Agent Carter’ teaser’s got us SO excited, January can’t come soon enough

Our favorite kick-ass Marvel heroine is back — in exactly five weeks and three days on ABC. Yes, we’re counting. Just like last season, Agent Peggy Carter (played by none other than one of our faves, Hayley Atwell) works for the Strategic Scientific Reserve. She wants to stop atomic-age threats after World War II, so she’s traveling across the country from her season one home in New York City to season two’s Old Hollywood, to get to the root of the problem. Peggy navigates all the usual things that go along with moving — like making friends, finding a new place to live, and wait, is that a new love interest?! — but not everything is what it seems. Like everything else in Hollywood, things are often different behind-the-scenes. “…She’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect,” the press release explains.

In case you haven’t checked out the show yet — and what are you waiting for? — this brief synopsis should get you up to speed (before you binge it on Hulu). Agent Carter leads a double life: a single woman working like other women of the era (the 1940s) and as a secret agent. Of course, if you need a refresher, Agent Carter was born under the Marvel umbrella: films Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as the shorter Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. Even before Agent Phil Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team came along, Carter wanted to join them in fighting off enemies instead of working her admin job. But, 1946 was a different time. (Makes us appreciate how far we’ve come!) Plus, she had lost her love, Captain America (Steve Rogers). When Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) was framed for treason, he contacted Carter to help find the culprit since she was the only one he could trust. Of course, she had to do all this on the DL, or else put her career/life. Soon, one thing led to another and she became the beloved agent she is today.

If you haven’t checked out the first eight-episode season, head right to Hulu… after you watch this new sneak peek.

Also, don’t forget to set your DVR for Jan. 5 at 9|8c on ABC. (Nope, it’s not too soon to do so!)
