“Adventure Time” fans, we have the worst news for you
The adventure’s over, and we’re so disappointed that we can’t even put it into words.
Cartoon Network announced today (September 29th) that its critically-acclaimed animated series Adventure Time will say its final farewell after Season 9.
The final season is currently in production, but doesn’t air until 2018. That’s some good news, at least — Adventure Time fans can enjoy new episodes for the next two years.
If you aren’t familiar, Adventure Time‘s plot focuses on Finn and Jake, who explore the Land of Ooo and take viewers on, you guessed it — adventures.
"Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories," the show's creator, Pendleton Ward, said. "I'm really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It’s a special thing, I think."
"Cartoon Network Studios is proud to have brought together this group of brilliant artists and animators who helped make Adventure Time one of the most critically acclaimed TV series of a generation," Cartoon Network's chief content officer, Rob Sorcher, added.
Since its premiere in 2010, Adventure Time has won six Emmys, as well as BAFTA and Annie Awards. The cult hit has inspired merchandise across the board, from games and comic books to children’s toys.
Don’t mind us, we’ll just be binge-watching every episode of Adventure Time ever until we manage to get over this. Which will probably be never!
