Something huge has happened with the Adnan Syed murder trial
If you’ve been following the hit podcast Serial, you know that a lot has happened with Adnan Syed’s murder trial. Recently, Syed was granted a new trial, based on the fact that cellphone tower evidence had not been properly examined by the trial team. While fans and followers alike have been mesmerized with this case from the start, recent information might make a huge twist in what comes next. According to E! Online…
Within several weeks of Syed being granted a new trial, two former classmates of his reached out to the Attorney General’s Office.

Why? According to the Baltimore Sun, the former students allege that Asia McClain (a new alibi witness on Syed’s behalf) told them she would “make up a lie” to prove that Syed was innocent. McClain’s testimony is particularly important because she allegedly saw Syed in the school’s library at the time prosecutors believe he was involved in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.

According to E!, the Deputy Attorney General Thiru Vignarajah released the following statement to the Sun in response to the latest development in the new trial: “The State submits that supplementing the record with affidavits that directly undermine McClain’s truthfulness would reinforce the grounds for denying Syed’s petition and would provide the post-conviction court an opportunity, with a more complete record, to resolve the McClain-alibi contention as a matter of law.”
While we have no idea what the future holds, we know one thing for sure: We’ll be keeping our eyes (and ears) glued to this case.
