Drop everything and listen to Adele’s glorious new song
You guys, it’s here. After teasing us last week with a glimpse of her newest single, Adele went and dropped an entire music video for “Hello” while we were sleeping. And oh my gosh, it’s so good.
Adele always seems to tug at that sentimental little part of our chest we never know is there until we listen to her music. For those who heard “Someone Like You” for the first time and felt like the wind had been knocked out of them, listening to “Hello” will be no different.
While Adele explained that this newest album is more of a “make up” record than a “break up” one, “Hello” is still absolutely heartbreaking—but from a distance. She’s no longer in the middle of the sadness, but on the other end of it. That doesn’t mean looking back doesn’t still bring up feelings of regret, but, as the song goes, at least she can say she tried.
This is one of those songs that just requires a hairbrush and a mirror, and this is also one of those songs that gets us super excited for the album, which is set to be released on November 20th. It doesn’t look like we’ll be hearing much about her baby or domestic life, but that’s because her secret to success has always been taking heartbreak and love and putting it into the words we couldn’t find. Her newest album might just be a reprise of 21, but from a later and more mature perspective. Or, it could be something entirely its own. We can’t wait to find out!
