Adele just broke *NSYNC’s 15-year record — and they are totally happy for her
After three long years of listening to 21, we finally, finally have a new album from Adele and it’s safe to say that the record was highly anticipated. In fact, fans were so excited by the arrival of 25 that they’ve helped the British songstress break a world record for first-week album sales.
According to Billboard, Adele’s newest offering sold an astounding 2.433 million records in only four days, knocking *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which sold 2.416 million in 2000, to #2 on the list.
Some entertainers would get a little salty over having their record broken, but not the members of everyone’s favorite boy band. In fact, most of the boys have taken to Twitter to very publicly congratulate Adele.
Chris Kirkpatrick retweeted this gem from Access Hollywood:
Meanwhile, ex-*NSYNCer Joey Fatone told Billboard that he couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.
“Records are always meant to be broken, but with technology and current music business model, I thought this one would be tough to beat,” Fatone said. “In all honesty, Adele is the truth—kinda excited a rare talent like hers is in the same breath as our group. I’m a huge fan….I even bought the damn album.”
Still no word from our boy Justin Timberlake on his reaction, but we’re sure he’ll come around.
