Wait…So Adele ISN’T performing at the Super Bowl?
There are so many reasons we love Adele that we’d find it hard to count on two hands all the ways the singer warms our hearts. We love that despite being the biggest star in the world, she isn’t afraid to have a laugh, has momentary brain farts, and can still be blown away by talented artists. So, when we heard rumors that Adele was supposedly set to be the performer at next year’s Super Bowl half-time show, we were pretty excited.
Now it seems that this news was actually just a rumor, as it seems that Adele has declined the offer to perform at the show.
Speaking at her show at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, on Saturday night (August 13), Billboard reports that the singer said that while she’d been approached, it wasn’t the right thing for her.
“First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl,” she said to the crowd. “I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really put on…I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

It was originally reported by The Sun that Adele was set to perform at the event, which takes place on February 5 next year.
It appears, however, that the NFL and sponsor Pepsi aren’t too happy about Adele speaking out about not performing at the event. In a joint statement released, both parties claimed that the singer hadn’t actually been offered the ‘gig’ at all.
“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show,” they said. “However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”
So…could this mean that Adele *might* still have a chance to change her mind? We know that she might not put on a visual spectacular like Beyoncé, Madonna, or Katy Perry, but we’re sure that it would have been an amazing show.
Last year it was heavily rumored that the Queen of Las Vegas, Britney Spears, was set to perform at the Super Bowl, which is often one of the most viewed television events of the year. It was later revealed that Coldplay would perform. Does this mean that Ms. Spears could still make an appearance?
Eek! We can’t WAIT to find out who is performing.
