Here’s why our girl Adele has turned down millions of dollars in endorsement deals

We might have discovered how Adele manages to create such amazing music while remaining one of the most humble, down-to-earth humans on the planet. In an interview with The Guardian, the “Hello” singer spoke about fame, and revealed that unlike other big-name stars, she refuses to work with products or brands. In fact, she’s turned down every endorsement deal that she’s ever been offered.

While there’s definitely nothing wrong with a celebrity working with a brand they believe in, Adele has always taken a more low-key approach to fame. Her reasons for passing on the huge number of deals that have come her way are all about wanting to live a normal life. She explained:

Back in 2013, the singer reportedly turned down a $19 million deal with L’Oreal, according to the Washington Times.

“I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted. I think it’s shameful when you sell out,” Adele said way back in 2011. And that hasn’t changed, even with her meteoric success.

That’s not to say she’s never thought about it. During the success of 21, she felt herself getting pulled into the world of expecting special treatment, and that’s when she knew it was time to make a change. In her Guardian interview, she revealed:

So there you have it. Adele has fought to stay grounded as an artist, even when that meant turning down heaps of money. She knows who she is, and what she needs—or doesn’t need—to make a glorious album and stay true to her work. And, as superfans, we’re grateful for that.
