Adam Sandler and Chris Rock will be pairing up for a new Netflix comedy
Get ready to laugh — Adam Sandler and Chris Rock will star in a comedy that’s set to hit Netflix in the near future. Even better, another Saturday Night Live alum will be working behind the scenes. Robert Smigel, who created the “TV Funhouse” animated shorts for the show back in the day, will be directing.
The film will be called The Week Of, and its plot focuses on a wedding. Sandler and Rock will be playing the fathers of the bride and groom, and together they’ll navigate the trials and tribulations of the week before the big event. Fingers crossed that it’s even half as good as The Wedding Singer, a Sandler classic.
If you’ve ever planned a wedding before, you know that things can get hilariously hectic the week before. Especially if you have family flying in from out of town to attend.
Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, seems especially excited about the film. In an interview with Deadline, he noted how special the reunion between Sandler and Rock will be.
"Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are cornerstones of the Netflix comedy family and we are over the moon about these two legends reuniting to give our members worldwide a healthy dose of the hilarity that they have been creating together for years," he said.
Sandler has a deal with Netflix, and this is one of the many projects that fits his contract.
Fans probably remember seeing Sandler and Rock’s chemistry in Grown Ups, which Smigel also helped out with. And of course, they both have a background in comedy thanks to SNL.
We can expect to see the movie on Netflix in 2018.
