Actresses are auctioning their 2018 Golden Globes dresses on eBay, and here’s how you can bid

If you tuned in to watch the 2018 Golden Globes this year, you undoubtedly noticed the sea of black dresses and tuxedos as the cameras panned across the audience. Actors and actresses donned black to stand in solidarity with victims of sexual abuse and harassment and to raise awareness for the newly formed Time’s Up defense fund, which helps covers legal fees for women and men who have experienced “sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace and while in pursuit of their careers.”
And now, those black dresses are making a comeback to further support the cause. Condé Nast, with the help of eBay, will be auctioning off some of the gowns worn that night to raise money for Time’s Up.
"At Condé Nast, we've always believed in the importance of swift action to support meaningful social change," said Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue and the current artistic director for Condé Nast. "Through this auction powered by eBay, and harnessing the compelling pull of both fashion and activism, we're hopeful that the black dresses worn at this year's historic Golden Globe Awards will raise funds for the Time's Up initiative, and serve to support the stories and voices of those who have been victims of sexual misconduct."
If there’s a dress that you absolutely loved from the 2018 Golden Globes, there’s a good chance it’ll be included in the auction. Viola Davis, Sarah Paulson, Elisabeth Moss, Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Greta Gerwig, Shailene Woodley, and Saoirse Ronan are just a few of the actresses who will be donating their dresses to the cause.
Here’s how to participate:
The auction opens on January 19th at 12 p.m. ET at ebay.com/timesup. All of the proceeds will go directly towards Time’s Up. There will also be a sweepstakes for the dresses worn by Claire Foy, Madeline Brewer and Mandy Moore, in which those interested can try to win with a bid of just $25.
And if you want to donate to the Time’s Up legal defense fund but don’t want to participate in the auction, you can visit its GoFundeMe page here.
