These actors are *for sure* returning to “Grey’s Anatomy” next year

The 2015-16 TV season is wrapped for the most part, and even though it’s only June, we’re already looking ahead to the fall calendar. How will cliffhangers resolve? What do the writers have in store for us next year? And most importantly, are there any actors whose contracts are up that won’t be returning?

Fortunately, we have some good news from Shondaland about Grey’s Anatomy: The majority of the actors plan to return for Season 13. Thank goodness, because we’re said goodbye to too many Grey’s characters to count — Derek, Cristina, Izzie, Mark, Lexie, the list goes on.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, returning for sure are Chandra Wilson (Bailey), James Pickens Jr. (Richard), Justin Chambers (Alex), and Kevin McKidd (Owen). Of course, we already know that Sara Ramirez, who played Callie, won’t be returning. We miss you already, Callie.

These days, it’s extremely rare for a show to reach 13 seasons. Like, incredibly rare. But Grey’s is more than powering through. THR also reports that it’s set to finish this broadcast season as ABC’s highest-rated drama in the 18-49 demographic. Not bad for a show that’s started as a mid-season replacement in spring 2005.

Knowing that so many of the actors are “in” for next season makes us breathe a sigh of relief. After a particularly turbulent season, we could use a little calm around Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. Well, you know. As calm as things can possibly get in Shondaland.
