These 5 acne products completely erased my last major breakout

Whenever someone tells me that I have great skin, I almost inevitably break out a day later. This could just be plain bad luck or coincidence, however, when it comes to stress or period-related acne, I know that Mother Nature and I are to blame. I typically have clear skin, and while I do get minor pimples every now and then, they usually clear up on their own within a few days. However, my latest breakout was pretty bad—when one pimple began to disappear, I got hit with three others.

I had multiple breakouts around my cheeks, my chin acne worsened, and a tiny pimple appeared on my brow bone. To tackle them, I used five different skincare products. Together, they helped clear my acne, minimize the size of my blemishes, reduced my redness, and healed the areas that I had picked. They all helped restore my skin and bring it back to its normal state.

Since they worked for me, I wanted to share which products I used when, and share what each of them did—here’s the breakdown:

When I wore makeup, I used the M-61 Powerspot Clear Spot Treatment:

Since this spot treatment is clear and quickly absorbs into a pimple, I used it during the day under my makeup. I love that it mixes well with my other skincare products like moisturizer, SPF, and eye cream, as well as my actual makeup products.

This was my skin when I first started to break out.

On days I didn’t wear makeup, I used the OSEA Essential Corrective Complex Treatment, the M-61 Powerspot Clear Spot Treatment, and the Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patches. When I have a whitehead or an ingrown pimple, I like to use the Mighty Patches. They not only conceal any redness from my pimple, but they also minimize the size of it. However, the patch is a bit noticeable—about two people noticed it at work in the morning (yes, I wore it to work), but as the day progressed, more people could see it.

When my acne was barely forming and hadn’t yet fully developed into a whitehead, I mixed the OSEA product with the M-61 one. The OSEA treatment soothed my skin and gave it hydration, while M-61’s antibacterial ingredients (glycolic acid and salicylic acid) worked to fix my skin’s texture and clean out my pores.

At night, I used the M-61 Powerspot Blemish Lotion and the Sonya Dakar Blemish Buster spot treatments:

Because these products are drying and more visible, I applied them at night—I didn’t want to walk around with white or brown crusty spots on my face! Since these products dry out acne, I use them once my pimples have become whiteheads or when they have already been popped (because, yes, I do pick at them sometimes).

If I’ve been picking at a pimple to the point where it looks like it could scar, I’ll add the OSEA treatment on top of the drying lotion or blemish buster. Not only does it help to minimize the pimple, but it’s also a soothing and moisturizing product.

After a week, my skin finally cleared up.

You can still see some redness around my chin where the ingrown pimple was, but it’s pretty clear.

My thoughts:

Even though these spot treatments don’t get rid of pimples within an hour or a day, they do work wonders. Breaking out during my period or when I’m stressed sucks, but these five products kept my acne in check, reduced my redness, and overall, healed my skin. 10/10 in my books.
