ABBA is releasing two new songs after 35 years, and here’s how you can hear them

We have to admit: We’re still suckers for ABBA. And with a second movie-musical featuring their songs in the works, it’s clear that the band’s tunes have serious staying power. Now, there’s even more good news for fans of the Swedish quartet. After more than 35 years away, ABBA is making a comeback, announcing their plans to release new music in December.

The pop superstars stunned the world with an Instagram post today, April 27th, in which they revealed that an ABBA reunion was in order. The post stated that the group’s upcoming virtual tour had led the band members to reconvene in the recording studio, and that their meeting had yielded two new songs — the band’s first new music since they split in 1982.

Through the Instagram post, ABBA declared that the recent recording session “was like time had stood still and we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!”

The band disclosed that their holographic selves will perform one of the new tracks, “I Still Have Faith in You,” on an NBC and BBC broadcast in December.

“We may have come of age, but the song is new,” the Instagram statement finished. “And it feels good.”

After the group debuts their new song, their virtual, 1979 “Abbatars” will continue on tour around the world. Since the band turned down a $1 billion offer for a reunion tour in 2000, this is likely the closest we will ever get to seeing ABBA perform live.

Although the band hasn’t sung together in years, the ABBA members have occasionally reunited, including once in 2016 when they all met up at a Mamma Mia-themed restaurant in Stockholm. That being said, we’re already breaking out our disco balls in anticipation of their return to music.

Only time can tell if ABBA’s new songs are as memorable as their originals. But no matter what, we’re still willing to take a chance on these upcoming singles.
