This woman threw a “ta-ta to my tatas” party after getting diagnosed with breast cancer

Receiving a life-changing diagnosis of any kind is difficult to grapple with, but breast cancer can be particularly devastating for so many women. Which is why we’re so unbelievably inspired by a woman who threw a goodbye party for her breasts after discovering — through self-examination (so utterly important) — that she had two malignant tumors. Andy Sealy needed a double mastectomy, and decided to tackle the emotional situation with some humor.

AKA she threw a “Ta-ta to my tatas” party.

Aaaaaand the party was entirely boob-themed: There was a booby snapchat filter, a boob cake that read “thanks for the mammories,” and everything in the space was colored pink. Oh, and there were 200 people there to say goodbye! Yeah, it was kinda a big deal.

via giphySealy explained her reasoning to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I wanted to do something for people I’m close to, so they could say goodbye and feel my tumor. It was to be a celebration. I don’t want people to feel bad for me, because I don’t feel bad. Don’t say sorry to me, because I’m not that type of person.” We love that bold and fearless attitude!

In the Facebook invite, Sealy reassured her guests that this was all happening for the right reasons. “If you know me, you know that I’m not a worrier. This happened for a reason and something amazing will be coming out of it — I truly believe that. FYI this is simply a get together to celebrate life.” This week, Sealy had the double mastectomy and is doing well in recovery. We’re taking so many pages out of her life manual, because had it not been for her self-examination, this diagnosis could have come at a later date and possibly been more serious.

"Guys and girls, just feel your boobs! Because you just don’t know. I just want people (men and women) to know how important it is. Maybe I’ll help to save a life," Sealy told People.

Ever the go-getter, Sealy plans to have another party after she undergoes reconstructive surgery. “I think I’ll call it hashtag ‘Meet the Replacements,’” she said in the same interview.
