Did John Krasinski slip a Jim and Pam reference into A Quiet Place? If so, he deserves a Dundie
While we are fans of The Office for life and would love nothing more than to see Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly grace our television screens once again with their love and their shenanigans, we are also THRILLED for John Krasinski that his career is moving onward and upward. The Dunder Mifflin alum wrote, directed, and stars in the thriller A Quiet Place. Go, John!
The movie, which just opened on Friday, April 6th, is getting RAVE reviews. It currently holds a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Wow. Impressive. A Quiet Place is about a family being hunted by aliens who detect people via sound. They have to remain perfectly silent, or else they’ll get snatched away. Krasinski shares the screen with his real-life wife, Emily Blunt. And together, their characters do whatever it takes to protect their children.
But if you were expecting the bubbly Jim Halpert version of Krasinski that we know and love, you’re in for a big surprise. A Quiet Place shows a serious side of him that we’ve never seen before. But Office aficionados, don’t fret. Because as Refinery29 noticed, A Quiet Place contains a scene that is somewhat similar to a famous Jim and Pam moment. OMG. What does it mean? Is Krasinski trying to tell us something?
Remember in Season 1 of The Office when Jim and Pam adorably and awkwardly shared a pair of headphones outside of Dunder Mifflin?
Of course you do. It’s an incredible moment for those two. Well, in A Quiet Place, we see the same thing. Krasinski’s character Lee shares a pair of headphones with Blunt’s character Evelyn. This couldn’t be just a coincidence, right?
Well, hold on, because there are some differences between the two scenes.
As Refinery29 pointed out, in A Quiet Place, Lee and Evelyn are sharing headphones because they are scared for their lives. If they want to listen to music, they must do so with headphones. Otherwise, the aliens will hear the music and come for them. While in The Office, Jim and Pam share a pair of headphones because they want to be closer to each other. They’re falling in love. Awww.
At any rate, we love this little tip of the hat Krasinski may or may not be sending our way.
And, who knows, maybe we will actually see an Office reunion at some point. Krasinski recently told Ellen Degeneres that he would be game to do a one-off Christmas episode: “I think it would be a sort of ‘Where Are They Now’ kind of thing,” Krasinski told Degeneres. “That would be really fun.” Uh, yes, please!
In the meantime, we have been inspired by all of this headphone sharing and are going to go re-watch Jim and Pam’s romance unfold. See you in a few days, fellow humans.
