A clip of Natalie Portman as a singing World Patrol Kid has circulated, and it’s pretty hysterical

Before she was a sick ballerina in Black Swan, and a quirky soul in Garden State, she was a child pop group singer. Don’t believe us? Well, there’s proof. On last night’s Late Late Show, Natalie Portman revealed she was a World Patrol Kid, otherwise known as a singing child star who, at the age of nine, performed on Earth Day to alert people of the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

While she wasn’t afraid to bring up her past resume-builder, she definitely seemed a little embarrassed by it. But really? She shouldn’t be.

Not only does Portman totally have a great set of pipes on her, but she was helping spread the word about protecting the environment. Watch and see a young Natalie belt it out:

There were like, eight people who would come in and out, we were all in, like, fifth grade... I was really dorky, okay?" Portman explained.

Footage of the band was originally uncovered a long time ago — think, well over ten years ago — but it was promptly forgotten, based on Portman’s many other achievements. Plus, this is the first time we’ve gotten to see her react to her younger self.

We love the fact that Portman was so environmentally aware at such a young age, and definitely think she should embrace her beautiful voice a little more often!
