Watch 92 years of Disney animation in 92 seconds

Happy (belated) birthday, Disney! Disney celebrated their official 92nd birthday on October 16, a day that in 1923, marked the birth of what was then known as The Disney Brothers Studio. Founded by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney, the company grew from simply an animation studio into an enterprise spanning theme parks, live action films, music, movie production, and so much more. Today, Disney is a staple in pretty much every household. Who didn’t grow up watching Cinderella get dressed by a gang of small animals and Pocahontas sing with all the voices of the mountain?

To celebrate the occasion, Disney’s official Twitter account recently shared this magical video, featuring 92 years of cinematic wonder in just 92 seconds. The short video includes clips from all of its critically acclaimed works — like Cinderalla, The Lion King, 101 Dalmations, Aladdin, Hercules, and so many more — backed by the song “Starchild” by Thomas Bergensen.

Side note: I’m not sure I realized how dark some of those movies were during my childhood until watching that clip. How did Scar leaping through red hot flames or Ursula cackling in front of a sea of magical swirling lights not give me nightmares?

Disney Animation also shared their own celebratory tweet with a time lapse video of Disney artist Eric Goldberg who has worked on films such a Hercules and The Princess and the Frog.

Congratulations on 92 years of magic, Disney!
