Incredible 911 dispatcher talked a man through birthing a baby during the blizzard

Winter Storm Jonas caused canceled plans for millions of people on the east coast and even a ban on travel in various counties. . . but it couldn’t stop one baby boy from being born.

One couple, whose names have not been released, were planning on using a midwife to deliver their baby, NBC Washington reports. However, when the storm hit their home in Stafford County, Virginia, the midwife was unable to brave the blizzard to get to their house and help them deliver. But that baby wasn’t going to wait, and the mother’s labor kept on progressing, so the father called 911.

While EMS crews were sent out, a 911 dispatcher — whose name was Roy, according to Inside Nova — stayed on the phone with the man, talking him through delivery, which was a “very quick” affair, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office told NBC. At 1:46 p.m. yesterday, the healthy baby boy was born, and all three of them are doing well.

Our hearts are warmed even in three feet of snow. Only one question remains: Was the baby named Roy, or Jonas?
