8 Awesome Ways to Spend $5 (Or Less!)
I love a lot of things, but what I love most is a really good deal. Okay. Maybe good deals aren’t what I love most, but I do really like them. I know a lot of us are either still recovering from the holidays, saving up for a warm spring vacation, or have decided to cut back on shopping.
One of my New Year’s resolutions is to stop spending as much money, but one of the downfalls to that is substituting quality for quantity. So many cute, cheap products are complete garbage. I decided to challenge myself and see if I could find at least eight items that were super cheap but worth the thrift. Here’s what I came up with.
1. Lovestory Waffle Scarf, $4.99 at Urban Outfitters
For just five dollars, this scarf is ridiculously soft and warm. It’s perfect for the remaining chilly months of winter and spring, and the color adds vibrancy to any outfit. Plus, saying “waffle scarf” out loud is really fun.
2. A Place in Sunflower Earmuffs, $4.99 at Modcloth
These earmuffs are ridiculous. But how cute are they? No, they may not be the most practical, but for five dollars, they are warm, adorable, and make me hungry. I’m not sure if the latter is a good or bad thing, but I’ll take it.
3. Violet and Blue Duo Eyeshadow, $5 at Sephora
Sephora brand make-up is awesome. About half of my cosmetics are by Sephora, and I haven’t ever been let down. Sephora eyeshadows are already half the price of brands like Urban Decay and MAC, but this eyeshadow is even cheaper. These cold colors are gorgeous, and go with every skin tone.
4. Purple Wallet, $3.50 at Target
I desperately needed a wallet for those times when I don’t want to drag my huge purse around. Going out with friends or simply stopping by the grocery store for some more coffee doesn’t require carrying around my entire life, so a small wallet should do the trick. I love how bright it is too, it makes it harder for me to misplace it. Visibility is always a good thing.
5. Meiji Hello Panda Strawberry Biscuit, $4.35 at Amazon
Need a relatively low-cal, delicious snack? Meiji Hello Panda Biscuits are these little cookies filled with either chocolate or strawberry filling. The strawberry tastes like Nesquik strawberry milk and it is my absolute favorite.
6. Deepa Gurnani Teardrop Ponytail Holder, $4.99 at Urban Outfitters
Feeling uninspired with your outfits lately? Me too. Luckily, small accessories like this ponytail holder really spiffy up a look without too much effort.
7. Little Pops, $4.50 at See’s
I’ve always loved See’s lollipops ever since I was a kid. They last forever, so I would end up leaving them half-eaten around the house and it drove my parents insane. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because See’s created these little guys.
8. Tie-Waist Tube A-Line Dress, $4.99 at Charlotte Russe
I know it’s February and definitely not even close to beach dress weather, but it’s only five dollars! And it’s so cute! Four months is really not that long. Think of this as a genius investment.
