8 Amazing Movies to Get You Pumped For Back-to-School Season
Back-to-School season is always bittersweet. The weather cools down, and the days start getting shorter. There’s also that whole school thing, which not everyone’s into, but everyone’s into movies right? Now is the time to revisit some of those collective high school memories we made from watching movies. Whether you’re heading back to class, or just nostalgic for those gold old days, these flicks will remind you what you’ve been missing.
1. Easy A
Emma Stone? Scarlet Letter references? Lisa Kudrow and Lalaine from Lizzie McGuire? Yes, please! Everything about this film is awesome and actually makes me want to redo high school and be as cool as Emma Stone.
2. Never Been Kissed
“I’m not Josie Grossie anymore” is and always has been my life anthem. Any former outsider can attest to this flick’s brilliance. It’s also a great for when you just need perspective on all the ridiculous politics of high school.
3. Leave It to Beaver
I especially loved this one because I was not a very good student in elementary school. That Beaver can’t catch a break in the classroom, and he definitely can’t stand up to his bike-stealing bully after being taken advantage of.
4. Bad Teacher
Because Cameron Diaz hates teaching as much as some students hate school.
5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Nobody could pull off a ditch day quite like this guy! Living the dream, Ferris.
6. Mean Girls
Ten years later, it’s still relevant as ever and funny as hell.
7. Billy Madison
Adam Sandler even makes a song out of the whole back-to-school ritual. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he does make an effort and even lands in the arms of his cool female teacher as a result. You’re never really too old to return to school, but you better be prepared for the drama when it starts.
8. Harriet the Spy
I loved Harriet because she was so different from everyone else her age, and that’s why her classmates turned against her upon snatching up her journal. This movie shows there are consequences to your true thoughts getting out, but that there’s always room for redemption and forgiveness in relationships and life. Also: never bring your diary to school! It will find its way into the wrong hands!
