7 things you can do if you want to find a relationship but *hate* dating

So you’re looking for love and coming up empty. Part of the problem is the dating scene itself — you’re just not into it. Whether it’s trolling bars for cuties or using apps to meet your match, the whole dating game simply isn’t your style. This doesn’t mean you have to give up on finding your person — it just means you’re going to have to get a little more creative. We’ve got a list of ideas for things you can do to find a great relationship, no conventional dating required.

1. Taking a cooking class.

If you love whipping up delicious treats in the kitchen (or just chowing down on them), a cooking class could be the ideal way to meet your next significant other. You’ll start out with something in common, and knowing they can cook is always appealing. Check out your local area to see if they offer cooking classes, and get ready to heat things up in the kitchen. And hey, if you don’t meet anyone, you can still cook something tasty for your family and friends.

2.Volunteer.

Find a cause you’re committed to and get involved. Sharing your passion with another person is one of the best parts of being in a relationship, and by volunteering you’ll meet up with all sorts of people with similar ideals. Look around for the cause that gets you most fired up: maybe it’s education, women’s rights, or helping animals. You’ll meet tons of people from all walks of life, and just might end up meeting the one that’s perfect for you. Plus, you’ll be making a positive change in the world. What’s not to love about that?

3. Join a sports team or club.

You don’t have to be an all-star to enjoy some local intramural sports. Plenty of community centers have low-pressure, fun leagues you can join to meet up with all sorts of people. Not only is it a fun way to meet someone, it’s a great method for connecting with your community and keeping active.

4. Swing by the dog park.

If “must love dogs” is essential for your one true love, grab your pooch and check out the neighborhood dog park. It’s a fun, low-key way to meet fellow dog lovers (and strike up a conversation with anyone who catches your fancy). Knowing someone loves animals is a key component for a lot of relationships, and seeing how a potential significant other interacts with your furkid could end up sealing the deal.

5. Join a gym (and actually talk to people there).[/listheaer]

Love breaking a sweat and pumping iron? Then it’s time to consider the gym for a potential love match. Take a few classes to see what you like, and use them to strike up conversations with some attractive fitness addicts. When you’re working on your fitness on the machines, be sure to chat with the people around you. You’ll end up looking good, feeling great, and possibly meeting someone amazing.

6. Take a museum tour.

Add some culture to your life by grabbing some friends and checking out the museums in your area. Most places have a few undiscovered gems worth visiting, and you’ll leave with a new appreciation for culture. And if you happen to strike up a conversation with someone attractive during the tour, all the better!

7. Join a Meetup.

Have a very specific interest not listed here? Want to explore a new facet of your city? Meetup groups are an amazing opportunity to get involved, get out there, and meet tons of people along the way. You can sign up for a group based on age, activity, or location. Try out a bunch and see what strikes your fancy. It’s a fun way to get out there without the hassle of dating.
