This 5-year-old getting over a breakup will crush your heart

Heartbreak is an inevitable part of life, and it appears some of us have to experience at a much younger age than the general population. Sloan Heffernan, an anchor for North Carolina-based TV station WRAL, posted a video on her public professional Facebook page of her 5-year-old daughter Quinn struggling with her current relationship status.

The caption reads: “Boy troubles already!!! Heaven help me!!”

Quinn was musing about her troubles from her car seat on the way home from school, trying to come to terms with ending a budding relationship. Apparently, a boy likes her and kissed her on the playground, but she doesn’t feel the same way about him. “He’s sweet and romantic but I think I’m too young to have a boyfriend,” she says. Her expression goes from serious to sad as she continues on, “But it’s like, he looks so happy and it’s just, I don’t want to break his heart!”

Heffernan knows better than to giggle at her daughter’s love woes. “We call her Ms. Drama. She gets so mad if I even crack a smile,” Heffernan wrote on her Facebook page. “I’ve learned to take her stories seriously.”

As for Quinn, she eventually comes to the conclusion that she needs to be honest with the boy in question. “I’ll just tell him it’s time to break up.”

Heffernan followed up on the story with People, telling them that, according to Quinn, when she broke up with boy she said “I should have told you this a long time ago!” Watch the video below and be prepared for your heart to burst.
