5 things you must do if you really only want to hook up with someone *one* time
For most of us, there are people out there whom we’d love to hook up with, but not actually date. Still, it can be hard to keep the people we hook up with at a safe distance from our emotions, and this gets even more difficult when you only want to hook up with someone just once. Yes, it is possible and totally acceptable to have your eye out on a certain someone but only want to have a little taste. Ya know, just to see what it’s like.
You’re best bet is to be clear before any up has been hooked: Tell this person that this will be a one-time deal. If they’re into it too, it’s game on.
When you find a One Night Only person, you usually just know. Like, they’re hella beautiful, but have some inarguably undatable things about them. But since life is complicated, social media affords little to no privacy, and we are weak and sloppy when it comes to sex sometimes, there are some things you must do if you want to hook up with someone just one single, marvelous time.

1Don’t get to know them *too* well.
Sure, if you’re going to hook up with someone, you want to know at least enough about them to feel safe getting into a sexy situation with them. You probably want to get a first and last name at the very least, in case of emergencies. And staying strangers can get tricky to navigate if they’re a friend of a friend, but keep things cordial with this person. When you want to hook up just once, keep the convo flirty and dirty. Because once you start swapping personal details about your childhood, it can be hard to go back to things being casual.
2Keep post-hookup contact to a minimum.
You can’t see someone again if they can’t contact you. It’s not easy to hide on the internet, but you don’t have to be friends online with every single person you swap spit with. If the person starts following you on social media, just try not to engage. Delete their number in the Lyft home or block it so you don’t get tempted to text them again or respond to their booty call next month.
3Be real with them.
It’s possible that you’re both on the same page about this being a one-time thing. 5Try not to relive the moment.
So as not be a repeat offender when you’ve pledged to yourself that you’d never go back, don’t think about it too much. You don’t have to repress the freaking memory, but try not to linger too much on it when it passes through your mind.
