On Saturday, Earth Day, people all over America (and the world!) took to the streets to join the March for Science. If you didn’t make it, watch out. These March for Science photos will give you some serious FOMO. And also, hopefully, inspire you to keep fighting the good fight when it comes to raising awareness about climate change, national parks, and hounding your congressional representatives to let them know you support science and the environment.
Since Donald Trump was elected president, many scientists, academics, and concerned citizens have been worried about what his administration will do when it comes to, well, everything science-related. It didn’t look great just after he took office — Trump signed an executive order that prevented anyone working in a federal agency from talking to the media (or engaging in any external communication at all), essentially gagging federal scientists.
Then, he nominated Scott Pruitt to head up the Environmental Protection Agency. Surely, Pruitt is a capable man, but he’s also sued the EPA a few times and doesn’t think that environmental regulations on states or industries are useful. In general, many in the Trump administration don’t believe in humans’ role in climate change and are often confused about basic biology.
Saturday’s march wasn’t aimed at any one policy or politician, though. It was just a general show of love for science, and data, and peer review. All things we can all use a little more of these days.

As you can see, men, women, children, and even pets came out to show some love for science, data, and good ol’ Mother Earth. Marches will be going on all day long, so if you feel like you need to get in on the action, you can likely find a march in your town through the official site. #FactsMatter!
