Bows are the 2019 Met Gala’s biggest red carpet trend, and they’re giving us so much nostalgia
The 2019 Met Gala is here, and there’s already one unmissable trend lighting up the pink carpet. Many stars are appearing in bows of all varieties: on dresses (we see you, Eva Chen), in hair (Ashley Graham, wearing a warrior princess braid, and Lady Gaga, who had not one, but four outfit swaps before she even ascended the pink staircase), and as detailing on an iridescent suit (see Alessandro Michele, who attended alongside a very gothic-looking Harry Styles).
Bows are, of course, a nostalgic favorite of ours (and possibly every ’90s kid who ever used Michelle Tanner as style inspiration). The 2019 Met Gala theme is “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” meaning all things irreverent and counterculture, and it is already one of the most fun carpets we’ve witnessed in years. Leave it to Anna Wintour to revive her cornerstone event with the addition of some much needed camp.
So, without further ado, here are the night’s best bows:
1Lady Gaga’s “Will Remind You of Her Early Years” bow
Gaga had mini bows in her hair, too, because why not.
2Ashley Graham’s “Most Likely to be Under the Christmas Tree” bow
One braid to rule them all.
3Eva Chen’s “My Bow Is Longer Than This Dress” bow
Leave it to Eva to look oh-bow-beautiful.
4Rachel Brosnahan’s “Victorian Era But Make It Fashion” bow
We’ll take this gown in every color.
5Alessandro Michele’s “Keep Your Eyes on my Bow” bow
The Gucci creative director’s bow is almost as eye-catching as his date for the night, Harry Styles.
6Laura Love’s “Little Bo Beep” bows
Pretty in pink (and black bows).
7Sinéad Burke’s “Peek-a-Boo” bows
Super fine, down the line.
