During the first season of Girls, there was an episode called “All Adventurous Women Do” in which Hannah (Lena Dunham) learns that she has HPV (Human papillomavirus). Even though this sexually-transmitted infection is extremely common — about 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV and 14 million people will become newly infected every year — being diagnosed with it can no doubt be a stressful experience.
