Meet the 11-year-old prodigy who just OWNED school
It’s May, and you know what that means: graduation time is here! We’ve been talking a lot about graduation ceremonies, like the amazingly brave mom who walked for her son, and the pregnant grad whose college brought the ceremony to her when she went into labor. Tanishq Abraham from northern Carolina just had an interesting grad story, too. . . when he earned three—yes, THREE—associate degrees in math, science, and foreign language studies. Oh, another important piece to this story: he’s 11.
Last year, Tanishq earned his high school diploma when he was just 10. During his high school career, he was thinking WAY ahead by taking college courses so that he could earn his degree(s!) just a year later. “Awesome feeling,” Tanishq tweeted yesterday. “Completed my first few baby steps to my BIG goal. . .” What is his “big” goal? To become a Nobel Prize-winning doctor and researcher. Oh, and the president of the United States. NBD.
After receiving his degrees from the American River College in Sacramento Wednesday night, he explained that the main thing driving him was his thirst for knowledge. “I like to learn,” Tanishq told FOX40 after the graduation ceremony. “So I just followed my passion of learning, and that’s how I ended up here.”
But he didn’t do it all on his own—he had the support of his family. “We did it as a family, as teamwork,” Taji Abraham, Tanishq’s rightfully proud mama, told FOX40. “And I was just cheering, I was just crying there when I saw Tanishq walk down the stage.”
Tanishq has, of course, always been bright. He became one of the youngest members of Mensa (a high IQ society) at the age of 4, according to LA Times. Then, he was homeschooled at age 7. “Even in kindergarten,” Taji told KCRA, “he was a few years ahead. It just went from there.”
Tanishq still wants to take a few courses at ARC, but then his plans are to go to Stanford . . . and reach his ultimate big goals. We can totally see you sitting in the Oval Office, Tanishq. Keep on being you!
According to KCRA, the entire thing wasn’t “much of a big thing” for Tanishq. After all, he still wants to take a few courses at ARC, and then his plans are to go to Stanford . . . and reach his ultimate big goals. We can totally see you sitting in the Oval Office, Tanishq. Keep on being you!
