11 amazing pancake recipes for Mardi Gras aka Pancake Day
February 28th is Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras in French, which also happens to be Pancake Day.
Known as Shrove Tuesday in the British Commonwealth, it’s the day before Ash Wednesday, or the first day of Lent. The idea is to eat richer, fatty, indulgent foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.
On the day-to-day, the Brits aren’t generally big pancake people, except for one big cakey breakfast blow-out on Pancake Day.
