Meet the badass 100-year-old woman who skydives, swims with sharks and lives fearlessly
If you thought YOU led a pretty adventurous lifestyle, this 100-year-old woman probably has you beat (sorry). Georgina Harwood not only went skydiving for her 100th birthday, but she also plans to chill with some sharks, because skydiving is SO passé these days.
Georgina, who hails from Cape Town, South Africa, is actually a seasoned skydiver. She started jumping out of planes when she was 92, and has kept up with it like how some people keep up with guitar lessons. So, it makes sense that for her big 1-0-0 she wants to kick it up a notch and do something a little more wild. Instead of riding the tallest roller coaster or swimming with trained dolphins like most of us would probably do to, Georgina decided she’s going to get into a cage while sharks circle her underwater. Just like the Discovery Channel. Like it’s no big deal.
“I’m so glad I did it,” Harwood told press about the shark experience. “I just can’t compare it to anything else.”
Did we mention she also used her birthday celebration to raise money for a good cause? She launched a fundraising page, asking for donations to the National Sea Rescue Institute in place of gifts.
It’s official. Georgina Harwood is our life hero. Watch our brave queen jump out of an airplane right here:
