10 Ways To Make Your ‘True Blood’ Premiere Party FANGtastic

Are you ready say goodbye to your favorite vampires? I know I’m not quite yet. Luckily, we’ve got all summer long to follow and hold on to Sookie Stackhouse’s collection of lovers, friends, and their fates. So far, all we know about season 7 is that the infected vampires are wreaking havoc on Bon Temps, and the townspeople are blaming Sookie for this. Sookie and Alcide are still a thing (much to Bill and Eric’s chagrin, I’m sure), and although Sookie initially rejected Bill’s protection, circumstances between them may change, since a Sookie-Alcide-Bill love triangle is happily rumored (at least I’m happy). Take a look at this season 7, episode 3 snippet and get excited!

Since the season 7 premiere is upon us, this gives us a reason to throw a True Blood premiere party one last time. If you’re planning one, here are some ways to make it bloody awesome:

1. Dress your apartment up like Fangtasia

It’s vital to set the scene, and Eric and Pam’s fierce and edgy bar is one place from which to draw inspiration. First of all, it’s mega dark, so shut all those curtains, and turn off the lights, and replace them with some flashy red lighting. You can buy red Christmas lights from Amazon for $8.99, as well as some red tablecloth for $9.99.

If you really want to go all out, you can get this Fangtasia sign on Ebay.

Other aspects to consider:

Music: You should be playing metal or electro at all times.
Bar: For our 21+ readers who drink, set up a fun bar which includes True Blood soda (and other drinks which we will cover later!)

2. Dress up

The most fun part about any party is getting all dressed up for it, right? Buy a Merlotte’s t-shirt here, or dress up like your favorite character.

For a Sookie-inspired sun-dress, try this floral print piece from Modcloth:

If you’re more of a Tara girl, try out a tank top like this one, paired with a pair of skinny jeans:

And let’s not forget Pam Glam! Pam takes fashion very seriously; she will not be seen in some sweater nonsense. Here is a very Pam dress from Nasty Gal. Accessorize with some gaudy jewelry (remember, it can’t be silver!)

3. Make some vampire cookies

These cookies may seem creepy, but they’re actually delicious and kind of taste like those jam cookies you see around the holidays.

You can find the recipe here.

4. Vamp up your nails

This is the perfect occasion to bring those dark and grisly polishes out. Here are some fun ideas for you to play with:

Black Devil Martini

You’ll need:

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 1/2 oz. dry vermouth
  • black olive
  • orange sugar

Non-alcoholic Vampire Punch

You’ll need:

  • 2 liters of ginger ale or Sprite Zero

  • Just for fun, freeze a glove filled with water and stick it in the bowl of punch

7. Show off your vampire bites, you vampire groupie.

With this hand vampire bite make-up.

8. Organize some party games

  • You could take a shot whenever Bill says “Sookeh!”
  • Create True Blood trivia to refresh the last six seasons
  • Play True Blood charades

9. Serve up some Louisiana fare for all those who don’t survive on blood.

I’ll be honest with you, making gumbo takes awhile. But it’s so, so worth it. If you feel like playing chef for the day, give this entree a go. The flavors are just unbelievably awesome. Find the recipe here.

For an easier entree with half as many ingredients, try this okra creole. Add extra chile powder for extra spice.

1. For dessert, make Gram’s famous pie

Adele Stackhouse sure knew how to whip up a mean pie. In honor of Sookie’s (late) loving and compassionate grandma, present your guests with this amazing pecan pie.
