10 More Rom-Com Couples with the Best Chemistry
Hi, I’m Elizabeth and I’m addicted to romantic comedies. We recently discussed our favorite rom-com couples with the best chemistry, and since there are so many great ones, we’re on to round two. Like I said: When a rom-com couple has good chemistry, they can make us believe that anything is possible. So in the names of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (andWhen Harry Met Sally, which turned 25 this month), here are 10 more rom-com couples with incredible chemistry.
1. Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone
Perhaps Ryan Gosling has a thing for redheads, because his chemistry with Emma Stone does not disappoint. They’re wonderful together in Crazy, Stupid, Love and though not a rom com, they’re equally as nice together in Gangster Squad. I hope we’ll get to see more of them in the future.
2. Matthew McConaughey & Kate Hudson
This is a blanket apology to anyone I’ll ever meet named Ben, because thanks to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, I’m absolutely going to call you Benny Boo Boo. But I can’t help it, because Kate Hudson comes alive with Matthew McConaughey. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this movie, or the two of them together in it or anything.
3. Michael Cera & Ellen Page
These two were so perfectly cast in Juno that when you watch it, you say, “I’m not sure who else could play these roles.” They’re both constantly awkward and uncomfortable, but their awkwardness and discomfort clock in at the same levels, so their chemistry clicks.
4. Billy Crystal & Meg Ryan
I think Meg Ryan could act with a garden hose and I would be all about it, but she and Billy Crystal are so good together in When Harry Met Sally. Is there a person on earth who doesn’t agree with that statement? I will always and forever have what she’s having.
5. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
If Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a person, it would be a horny teenage boy. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is more or less a dog in heat. I’ll always be #TeamJen, but there’s no denying the obvious chemistry Brad and Angie have, and this is where it all began. The movie is full of stolen glances, intimate moments and plenty of physical contact.
6. Ben Affleck & Joey Lauren Adams
Mr. and Mrs. Smith : raging hormones :: Chasing Amy : sensuality. Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams kill me in Chasing Amy; they’re just so good, whatever they are. Friends? Lovers? Whatever it is, I’m all about it.
7. Will Smith & Eva Mendes
Hitch has all the makings of a rom com: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, something gets in the way, boy and girl make up. It has a former musician turned lead actor. It even has a catchy song, sung by said former musician. But most of all, it has Eva Mendes, probably my favorite female lead for Will Smith to date. Two big chemistry rom com thumbs up from me.
8. Justin Timberlake & Mila Kunis
I shamelessly adore the movie Friends With Benefits and everything about it, and I hope you do, too. I adore the cheesy storyline. I adore the number of times JT reminds us he has a great singing voice. I adore the gratuitous shots of New York City and its landmarks. And most of all, I adore the pairing of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis together.
9. George Clooney & Michelle Pfeiffer
The soundtrack. The cast (hi, Mae Whitman in 1996). Even the movie poster for One Fine Day is perfection. If you’re having a bad day, you can turn it around with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer; the movie title says it all.
10. Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore
When he needs a zany neighbor or a crazy homeless guy, Adam Sandler has Steve Buscemi. And when he needs a leading lady, he turns to Drew Barrymore. These two have appeared together many times over the years, and it’s fun whenever they reunite. There’s something about good friends that make great chemistry, and these two have it.
