10 [Remember MySpace?] Questions With… Maestro Harrell
HelloGiggles! Welcome back to my “10 [Remember MySpace?] Questions With…” series.
The word “bored” is not in this guy’s vernacular, as at 21, Maestro Harrell is a sought-after DJ, music producer and actor.
His love for music started at the age of two, when he started playing piano and singing shortly thereafter. By seven, he was starring in his own show (UPN’s Guys Like Us), and by nine, had appeared on Jay Leno six times. He made his motion picture debut portraying Young Cassius Clay alongside Will Smith and Jamie Foxx in the Oscar-nominated film Ali.
At the age most kids are excited to stay home by themselves, just 13, Maestro signed a record deal with mega-producer Jermaine Dupri (Island Def Jam), and then quickly found himself cast as Randy in the highly-acclaimed show The Wire.
He’s apprenticed under such top producers as David Guetta, Ammo, John Dahlback, Chris Lake … and in 2011, was a co-producer for Rihanna’s “Reb’l Fleur” perfume campaign with fellow producer Brian Kidd.
Citing Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, U2, Max Marting, Dr. Luke, Axwell and Tïesto as his inspirations, Maestro has realized that his true passion is performing for the masses, and has opened for some of the largest DJs in the Electronic Dance Music community.
He currently plays Malik, a high school student, on ABC’s hit sitcom Suburgatory.
Make sure you follow Maestro on Twitter and Facebook. Let’s keep tabs on this guy. With what he’s accomplished by 21, give him another decade and he might be running the world.
And now:
