I’ve personally played the game for about a month and it delivers a lot of humor, especially in contrast to other titles that fall in it’s category. All the characters poke fun of the “starter experience”, while we all make fun of Homer. While playing along, I’ve felt like I’ve been inside my very own Simpsons episode. Tapped Out takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to mobile / casual gaming while successfully using the platform to its advantage.
Written by The Simpsons’ award-winning writers, Tapped Out brings to life TV’s longest-running comedy. Fans are able to recreate and customize the iconic town of Springfield and play along with many of the beloved characters they have come to know and love throughout the show’s more than 20-year history.
For fans new to the app, the adventure begins when Homer accidentally causes a meltdown that wipes out Springfield (D’OH!). It’s up to players to rebuild it and help Homer find his family and friends.
Players complete a variety of quests to earn virtual money, experience points and even donuts (!) which they can use to customize and expand their very own Springfields with new buildings, decorations and characters from the show.
On the 25th Season Premiere of The Simpsons, Zooey will guest star alongside Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Silverman and Sarah Michelle Gellar … who are all Bart’s ex-girlfriends in episodes past.
Check out Zooey talking to Jay Leno last week on The Tonight Show about the episode:
“It was a way to acknowledge that, for a 10-year-old boy, Bart has had a lot of action over the years.
We thought it might be fun to borrow/pay homage to/steal an idea from High Fidelity and have him go on a romantic pilgrimage and visit the girls that he dated and try to figure out how the hell he screwed things up with each of them.
Any resemblance between this episode and Breakfast at Tiffany’s is completely coincidental.”
Sounds amazing already! Make sure to set your DVR’s or tune in for The Simpsons 25th Season Premiere.
