I thought it crazy enough when I heard male legislators trying similar crap and then the whole “women’s bodies have ways of shutting that whole thing down” comment and now issue… But having a fellow woman do this just hurts me more somehow. The statistic 1 in 3 women have been sexually assaulted is low. That’s the women, unlike me, who felt like reporting it would do something.

“Genetic material can be taken from a fetus, aborted or not,”- this phrase makes me sick. I couldn’t focus on the rest of the article after reading this. People realize that the author is referring to taking “genetic material” from a dead child?! And we are all just supposed to be okay with this? What about babies’ rights or children’s rights? If we are going to argue for women rights, why not argue for the child too? Oh wait, the child won’t have a say because it’s dead, and it didn’t have a say about that either. This issue would strike a chord with a lot more people if we start using the word kill synonymously with abort.

How would this affect the morning after pill? That would be one of the first things I would do. You have to take it within 72 hours. So if a woman uses it and doesn’t become pregnant will they still say she tampered with evidence by taking the pill, that she should have just waited to see if she conceived her rapists child? If she uses the pill and does become pregnant, was that an attempt to destroy evidence.?Seems like the victim is going to be in more legal trouble than the rapist. Way to go!

And what that bill would cause is some illegal and unsafe abortions around the state. Yep. Sounds like protecting the woman to me! How is it possible to be so uneducated and ignorant? Maybe she should have talked to some rape victims and how they felt about this bill before she wrote it.
