Win a DVD of Martha Marcy May Marlene!

HelloGiggles has talked about how much we love Elizabeth Olsen and how much we enjoyed Martha Marcy May Marlene before. So, it is no surprise that when we got this exclusive clip of Marcy’s Song, we were THRILLED. Elizabeth Olsen was great. John Hawkes was terrific, too, and his performance of this song – even outside of the context of the movie – is still just as chilling. In the movie, it’s a whole other thing… but you’ll have to watch it to know what I mean!

I viewed this film at the Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville this past fall, and it managed to exceed my already high expectations. I am and have been a fan of John Hawkes. I thought he was incredible in Deadwood and Winter’s Bone, but his performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene was simply perfect. His performance of this song especially surprised and delighted me. Elizabeth Olsen also impressed me, and I can’t wait to see her future work. I would be overjoyed to own this film!

not quite the same without BOP BOP BOP BOP BOPBOPBOP to preface it 😉

I’m so glad I was able to see this film. It was a well-rounded film and all the characters were well-cast, esp the 3 leads. While this song is uber creepy because you know the intention behind it is just to gain more control over Martha, even though in normal situations this would be a very romantic thing to do. But still a great song and it’s nice to hear it out of the movie because then it doesn’t seem as wrong

So happy that you posted this–Martha Marcy was one of my favorite movies from last year. Elizabeth Olsen and John Hawkes are fantastic–really looking forward to seeing more from both of them.

I can’t wait to see this movie! I believe its actually On Demand right now. I am so excited to see Elizabeth Olsen in all these films lately. As for the video, I LOVE John Hawkes- just watched East Bound and Down yesterday. His character is the only sane one on that show!, lol.

This song is heartbreaking, and I can’t quite tell what it’s about. It might be unrequited love, or love lost, or it might be that this guy is just losing his mind. I haven’t seen the movie yet to understand the context, but it’s been on my list since I heard of it. I’ve watched the short video three times already and I love this song. It’s probably one of the saddest love songs I’ve ever heard.

Beautiful-sounding song. I have not seen the movie yet, but have been wanting to since the first ad I saw. As eerily creepy as the movie looks, I can’t help but feel a little creeped out by how much I liked the song.

I think it’s a great song! It’s haunting! And while I haven’t seen the movie just yet. I think that the song really fits the premise of the film. I love it!
